Talk2Protect provides an easy and convenient way for parents to access evidence-based and unbiased education and resources that will help them talk to their teens about sex and relationships to avoid teen pregnancy, STD’s and unhealthy relationships. Between 2010 and 2012, HCET conducted a series of training events, focus groups and other activities in Indiana aimed at educating youth workers, teachers, parents and other adults working with youth on discussing these important issues with their teens. There is strong support both in Indiana communities and in the research to promote parents as the primary providers of sex education. Teens want to hear from their parents and parents want to talk to their teens, but parents often need support and resources to help them start and maintain the conversation. Talk2Protect is one way to help parents help teens.
